There Are Some Crazy People In This World
One of them called her this morning.
Today’s random word is listen.
“Why did you send back the plantains last night?”
“What?”
“The plantains. You wrinkled your nose as you mashed them with your fork.”
“Who is this?”
“Listen, I own Isit La Li Ye* restaurant. I’m reviewing the footage and the records from last night. What was wrong with the plantains?” he asked, his voice getting higher with each word.
Her wide eyes stared at her phone, her mouth hung open.
She remembered the overripe, charred, yet uncooked plantains. But this call was weird.
“Hey Siri, hang up and block,” she said, thinking, There are some crazy people in this world.
