In full disclosure, I take medication (Zepbound) to manage my obesity. Like your wife, constipation was an issue until I significantly increased my water intake. I've been losing weight very slowly; the way it's supposed to be. The medication ‘changed my mind.’ That is the most powerful effect and I'm grateful. I still eat everything I want but significantly less of it. And, I want to exercise (shocking).

I have not experienced any of the side effects folks typically complain about.

Pancreatic issues, cancer, other long-term issues….. I shoot my shot, drink water, and mind my business.
